A postcard steeped in history
I received this postcard from Alan from the UK, yesterday. How marvelous that it should reach me on the very same day as the Royal Wedding. Thank you Alan, there is certainly a lot of history in this postcard. There is something uplifting about receiving mail that isn't junk or bills.....

Travelling to Ottawa
The first picture I took when the train was pulling away from the station in Montreal, Quebec. The next one was when the train stopped at one of the many stops along the way. I had lovely travelling weather, although I hear we are expecting a bit of snow overnight....will winter ever be over?? Good thing is that it disappears very quickly at this time of the year.

My Grandmother Duclos
If you will remember, I posted a picture of my grandparents on their wedding day. My grandmother Marie is the one on the left, the lady on the right is her sister, Marguerite, and the men in the middle is Marguerite's husband, Maurice. They came from Northern New Brunswick, but worked in Montreal, Quebec, hence the stylish clothes.

The Easter Bunny strikes again
I was the Easter Bunny at Toastmasters tonight, gave out a treat, then went to the lectern and told a little story about the History of the Easter Rabbit. I had fun!! We all had a great laugh. Too bad, it wasn't in sepia, I could have used it for this Saturday's theme in Sepia Saturday :(

More curtains
Now that this is done, I can start planting my plants for transplant later on in June. I plan to have a marvelous garden this year, I can hardly wait to start working in the earth, I love the smells of Spring.
New curtains for the Livingroom
I was busy this past two weekends sewing up sheers and valances for my livingroom window. I changed the curtains in the kitchen too, pictures will follow later. This weekend coming up, I shall be visiting in Ottawa for Easter. Wishing everyone a Happy Easter!!

Delighting in my son's success!
I have just finished reading my son's (David) blog on Cullinary. In January, he decided to change careers from being a Chemical Engineer to one of becoming a Chef. His blog is about the first steps in this new path in his life. His latest blog entry is about a grand evening he had assisting the 2010 Chef of the Year prepare for this year's Chef Awards gala in Charlottetown, PEI. He was chosen among many students for this honored spot. His blog site is:

Going to the Capital City
Today, I picked up my train ticket to go to Ottawa for the Easter weekend to visit my step daughter and family. I love travelling by rail. Looking forward to seeing them all, hopefully the weather will be warm. Ottawa is a lovely city, so many different buildings, resturants, etc., especially the Sparks St. market!
Wow, I can hardly wait!

A Beautiful Sunny Spring Day
Had a wonderful breakfast with my friends at the Goodie Shop. I happened to sit in the same place where I took a photo of snow laden branches a few weeks ago. Those same branches are now starting to bud, Spring is on its way!!
I will attempt to sew up some sheers for the livingroom window and install a valance. Must go get my stepladder. I will take before and after pictures and get your opinion.

Toastmasters tonight
I am the Invocator for tonight's Toastmasters, I saw this once and filed it away. I love the words so have decided to use this............
"May today there be peace within.
May you trust that you are
exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite
possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others.
May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has
been given to you.
May you be content with yourself just the way you
are. Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul
the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.
It is there for each and
every one of us."

Games Night at Rosie's
Tonight, I hosted the Games Night. We are a group of women that meet the first Monday of the month and play board/card games. We don't always follow the rules, we make up our own sometimes, but always, we have fun! Tonight, the game was called "Don't Break the Chain". It is a memory game, one person starts and does the action that is on the card, the next player must do the first person's action, then her own action, the third player must then do the first, the second and then her own. So forth and so on. Great memory game, when you miss an action in the right sequence, you are out. I didn't last too long in the first round, did a bit better in the second round. After the game was finished, we had refreshments, mixed in with some stories of when we were younger. A great evening, great company, great laughs!!! Life is good.

Snow again!!!
Well, this has been quite a weekend! I went to dinner at some friends' place Friday evening after work, a storm (a Nor'Easter) came up. The snow came down in record time. I stayed over, just got home around 4pm yesterday afternoon. I had to park in the cemetary while I shovelled a path for my car. Now I am taking it easy with a sore back!
Have to get ready, Games Night is here tomorrow night! Looking forward to hosting the group of ladies!! We will play "Don't Break the Chain", it is a new game none of them have played yet............should be fun.

Taking a break from work
After seeing Martin's entry about Players Please, I thought I would submit this picture of Dad giving himself a light, Dad always liked to experiment with his camera. This would have been in the 40's, Dad is now 87.
