SepiaSaturday 109

Oh, to be able to shrink myself and live in my dollhouse!!  I built this dollhouse from a kit in 2003. It was called the Bayberry cottage.  It took awhile, even though it was a kit, I had to do some cutting, window frames, door frames, etc.  The windows even go up and down!  I created the hardwood floors from coffee stir sticks, cut them all in odd sizes, glued them down, piece by piece, sanded and stained them.  I had fun decorating.  The last picture is a picture of part of my doll collection before I sold it.  The last picture of the three dolls are costumes I sewed for them.  I believe I still have the one dressed up as an Acadian girl.

In the picture of the livingroom, I photocopied my 3 children's graduation pictures and put them on the wall where along the stairs.  Queen Victoria's portrait is hanging in the kitchen.

Icy conditions

Well, for the second time this month, we have had snow, followed by mild weather and rain, then sub zero weather.  This causes everyone's driveway and yards to be like a skating rink.  We are expecting snow tonight and in the morning, followed again by rain and then cold weather, there is definitely a pattern  forming here...........On the UP side, it was beautiful and sunny today!!

Talk Show Host

I have just come home from pretty intensive training to become a Talk Show Host.  Well, the back up to the Talk Show Host that is.  Whenever she can't be there, I will be filling in.  It is going to take some getting used to the ear piece I have to have in my ear to hear when we go for a commercial, etc.  If it means anything, when I did some practicing about coming in at the count of 10 seconds, the controller missed her cue, she said she was too interested in listening and watching me on the monitor.

This is strictly  a volunteer position, just once in awhile.  It will be an adventure which I couldn't pass up, since it was on my "Bucket List" that I had made up when I saw the movie starring Jack Nicolson.  Another thing was to become a red head at least once before I die.  Took me darn near two years to get rid of the color, I thought there for a while I was going to be a redhead until I died.....So wish me luck in my new adventure, will keep you updated on my tribulations and my bloopers!

Well, I went with this photo of my Aunt Sophie Brideau on one of her trips to Rome.  She is wearing a beret, the birds must have like it because she had them eating out of her hands.....this was taken probably in the late forties or early fifties.  She was a nurse, never married, travelled alot.  I am neither one of these, so I guess I didn't take after her.  We used to correspond though back in the '70's, she lived in Montreal and I in New Brunswick.  We corresponded in french which was a feat for me as I used to go to an English school and everything was in English. She did enjoy the letters though, mistakes and all and always answered promptly.  You can see more hats and more at: sepiasaturday.blogspot.com

Can One Possibly have a Good Day at Work?

Today was unbeliveably bright.  I guess it is right that the sun is the closest to the earth in January!  I don't know if that was what gave me such a wonderful day at work today.  Everyone seemed to be in a good mood, colleagues, clients, etc..  We were just sort of feeding off one another.

Getting better acquainted with my new surroundings, can't wait for summer!!  There is a big island in the kitchen, wired and full of drawers to store cooking and baking utensils.  Will have to sharpen my cullinary skills...and invite friends over to taste my concoctions.  Will have to step away from the old and tried Acadian fare and try something adventurous while I have the space to do it in, and the space to sit people down.......

Finally moved in!

Well, last Thursday, I finally moved into the place I will be house sitting for about a year for the new buyers of this lovely waterfront property in the country.  After I am finished here, I shall move back into the city again, looking forward though to lulling around in the screened-in patio in the summertime, watching the boats sailing by and working away in the raised flowerbeds.

Edmond Thériault 1924-2011

It has been quite a month or so, Dad took sick after only being at the Nursing Home eight days.  He had been hospitalized the last 4 weeks.   We lost him on New Year's Eve.  We will miss him.  He leaves behind six children, (3 sons and 3 daughters), many grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, Katie Rose being the youngest at 14 months.
