I know I am going out on a limb here, but I chose a bench to coincide with this week's SepiaSaturday themes of newspapers, benches, events of the day.
I have sat on this bench many many times at Ritchie's Wharf in my town, Miramichi. I have read books, ate ice cream from a little shop down the boardwalk and have sat alone and in the company of others, some friends, some strangers.
Facing the mighty Miramichi River, there is always some activity, like boats coming in to dock, seagulls flying overheard, tourboats floating by, people milling about, but on this bench, I could get lost in thought or prose.
For some inspiring ideas, go to http://sepiasaturday.blogspot.com , make the news, be the first to post!!!
I love your red bench story. And the bench goes so nicely with your bright red roses. Very pretty.

I had to go and take a look at your view across the river, and for the benefit of others, here it is on Sstreetview (nearly...the Google car could not pass your bench)

You have a gorgeous view from that red bench, Rosie. Thanks for providing it, Nigel.
DeleteThat's a very inviting bench and a gorgeous bright colour. What a lovely view (thanks Nigel!); I think I'd enjoy a stroll along the boardwalk.
ReplyDeleteRitchie's Wharf is just off Ledden Street, Miramichi, NB, Canada. Isn't Google Earth grand? If you want to see the Wharf from across the river, google Water Street, Miramichi and you should see it....
ReplyDeleteA simple bench can have a lot of meaning, and I suspect there are others to whom that bench has similar significance. Great idea Rosie.
ReplyDeleteI want to find a bench with a view like that.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely bench!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good looking bench
ReplyDeleteGreat bench for the first post this Sat...even though you invited someone else to be first, you are!
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely post. It is amazing how such a photo (which is terrific) can make me so thoughtful.
