The Gathering in Miramichi, NB

Well after many months of planning with the organizers, Karl  Wade and Charles Asoyuf, The Gathering took place at the EcoCentre on Cove Road in Miramichi, June 14-16th, 2013.  It was a gathering of like minded people who were mostly members of a Facebook group called Our Miramichi Heritage Photos.  We post pictures of places and people of yesteryear here on the Miramichi River.

It was great to see people we hadn't seen in years come from all over to celebrate this event.  There was a book put out for no less than 180 sponsors who gladly paid their $100 to sponsor a page. Each page contained a picture of bygone days on top half, bottom half was the their business card.  No doubt, in years to come when some of these businesses are no longer in business, they, too, will come part of our Heritage!

Below are some pictures of the Meet and Greet, the many tables of many many pictures, (not counting those that the public brought in to show us), and the banquet on Saturday night

Meet and Greet on Friday evening of The Gathering, Ronald Doiron provided the music.
The people kept streaming in, over 1.000 people attended, it was a success!
Throughout the afternoon on Saturday models in different decades were walking about, it added a touch of nostalgia for sure.
There was a sold out crowd for the banquet, it was a delicious meals with various guest speakers.
It was a great undertaking for a small committee which I was proud to help out, there's talk we may have one again in 4 or 5 years!  Then, there will be more pictures and more stories to share!!

  1. What a delightful get together, and just the Facebook group itself sounds like fun, with sharing history from your area. Looks like a lot of fun, the entertainment and the costumes!
