Mother Nature's White on White

On my way to the Goodie Shop, I stopped the car and took a few pictures of the heavy frost on the trees, what a breathtaking sight!!  February 26, 2013.

This is how much frost was on the branches!!

Down main street in Miramichi, NB, Canada.  Winter, I don't like shovelling snow, but love scenes like these!!

SepiaSaturday 165

Good Morning Everyone!  Happy SepiaSaturday!

I went digging and came up with this photo.  I believe she is my great grandmother Brideau.  Mom is getting up in age and can't remember too much, but she thought she was the mother of her Mom.  That would make her my great grandmother Brideau?  I don't know, all I know is that she looks quite stern with her hair tightly knotted into a bun, her hands are pretty weather beaten too. I could only imagine the hardships in her life back then.  Her forehead is pretty light compared to the bottom part of her face...well, there you have it, my contribution to (unknown) photos of yesteryear!!!

Winter scenes

I couldn't resist taking a picture of the tree in my front yard.  The snow has moderated, but the wind was starting to pick up, so I thought I had better get out and take this picture before the wind took all the snow off the branches.
Here, my mailbox is covered in snow, even a little blotch of snow on the flap itself.  Winter does have its moments.  For awhile, in winter, everyone's yard looks the same, all covered with snow.
As you can see, my car is red too, I like red, one of my favorite colors.  Since it is not a work day, I will stay indoors, make a nice hot cup of tea, cozy up and watch a little "telly".....

Enjoying the Season of winter

I was thrilled when the theme was snow, snow, and more snow!  The first picture is of a voyeur my brother, Maurice and I sculpted out of snow.  There was a contest in town that weekend for the best snow sculpture, we were just out of town limits, but we did one anyway.  We had fun, wasn't that the point in the first place?
Dad had to shovel all the snow back then, (no easy snowblowers to use then).  That is my brother and I standing tall on the top of the (snow) mountain!
The neighborhood kids, we were all ages, the older ones took care of the little ones, we all got along fine.  Good fresh air, lots of laughter!
Men corking barrels for smelts, in fact the last couple of weeks, it has been smelt fries dinner at many restaurants in the area, deep fried or pan fried, your choice, with the heads on or with the heads off, your choice!!
I took this picture while having breakfast at one of my favorite restaurant, The Goodie Shop.  I thought it was so pretty with the snow just hanging on each branch.
