This family was likely going shopping.  They are Mennonites from Ontario, Canada.  They live on their own in communities, they are self sufficient, they just come into town to get what they can not produce on their farms.  For more inspiring delectables, go to sepiasaturday.blogspot.com

Old Man Winter, Begone

Heading for a mighty cold night tonight!  By tomorrow morning, it will be around -28 with windchill factor.  Last night my car heater decided it would stop working, so, in that cold tomorrow morning, I shall get into my car and travel a few kilometers to the garage.  Brrrrr, it promises to be cold!!!

I have put a protective shield over my windshield hoping that it will cut down on the frost on the window.

What went wrong?  I pictured myself somewhere in the south during these cold months....I guess I will have to put it on my bucket list.  My trip to Europe in the Fall was the last article on my Bucket List, guess I will have to make a new one.  How many can a person have in a lifetime I wonder?

HELP

I tried in vain to post some pictures for the upcoming SepiaSaturday, but alas, the blog just won't allow me to post any pictures.  I even tried shutting down my computer, but that didn't work either!  It is so frustrating especially since I had more than one picture I could post in the "beach" theme, ugh!!!

Second day of walking to work

When I woke up this morning and found the house warmer I knew the weather had lightened up a bit.  I turned the radio on and sure enough, it was only -18 degrees out there.

I had an enjoyable walk to work, it was just pre-dawn, all was quiet, I was able to meditate.  I carried on with my work at the real estate company, Remax, and could scarely wait for quitting time to walk home.

I had so much energy, I typed up some documents for a neighbor, dropped them off to her, went grocery shopping and visited my Mom who is in a Care Home!  I hope I keep on having so much energy!!!  So glad I now have the opportunity to go walking.  Somehow, it is different when you have a purpose or goal at the end of the walk.

Merciful Lord, it was cold....

Since my move to town, I had decided I would walk to work. It is a 15 minute walk, 12 minutes if I am really hurrying.

It didn't seem that cold when I stepped out this morning and began my walk.  Turned out to be around -23 degrees celcius!  So, needless to say, it did not take me too long to get to my destination.

When I got home tonight, it was just starting to get dark.  I really appreciated the heat of my cozy little place.  Walking in the cold reminded me of when I was a little girl.  My siblings and all the neighbors' children went out to play in all the seasons. I don't ever remember my parents saying, "Oh no, you children can't go out to play, it's too cold".  It was "Go outside for awhile and play".

There were all kinds of games we played at each season and we welcomed them just like old friends.  We were near 26 strong when all the neighborhood children were outside playing.  We would occasionally run in our homes, warm up, grab a dry pair of mittens and out we went again, afraid we might miss any of the fun.

Nowadays, kids are stuck in the house either watching TV, playing video games or texting.  No snow forts, no snowball games, or King of the Castle. Sad in a way..........

Happy New Year to all bloggers

http://youtu.be/acxnmaVTlZA

I can't believe another year has gone by!!  A lot has happened in my life in the past year, some were good, some not so good, but I'm glad I was around to experience all of it!!

I have no regrets for the past year, I have learned that life isn't always fair, but so much worth living.

My only resolution this year or goal I suppose is to find romance.  I want to fall in love this year.  I will let you know next January 1st if this, indeed, did happen. Stay tuned....
