Mystical, magical Miramichi River

I thought I would focus on more then one person in a boat, other boats in the water, with a flag or two.

This is the Dragon Boat races that was held in Chatham/Miramichi, NB.  This is usually a quiet town, but, on this day, you could not find a parking space, cars were bumper to bumper.

Of course, visited the local watering place, O'Donaghue's where our favorite lady, Maltida Murdoch was fiddling at a jam session.

It was a fine large day and fun was had by all!!!  For more boats, rowers, flags, go to www.sepiasaturday.blogspot.com

  1. I see we both feature dragon boats this week, and it looks like you are a fan of my favourite kind of music too.

  2. Great to see more dragon boats, and I like the way you celebrate and enjoy music as well!

  3. Whoa! That traffic in town looks like pretty serious business, but that's what happens in small towns on big days! I had no idea Dragon Boats were so big until one day, while sitting on the beach at Lake Tahoe, someone said "Wow, look at that!" & when I looked up, there were 5 of those things being rowed into shore. They were racing from one end of the lake to the other (22 miles). I wondered why they were pulling into Meeks Bay, but quickly realized why they'd called a 'time out' when I saw the rowers making mad dashes for the public restrooms. :)

  4. Dragon boats deserve to be an Olympic sport. Maybe even a non-gender specific event. Your fiddler looks like someone who knows a lot of tunes.

  5. It looks like one of the best excuses for a visit to the local hostelry!

  8. I lived near a large river in s smallish town, boat races, music and fun it all goes well together. (My Mother's name was Rosa. always liked that name, wished she would have given me her name, but my older sister has got it!)
