For Sepia Saturday #80

I googled "Rosie the Riveter" and I came across this interesting picture.  It was donated by Frances Lorine Rogers Patain.  Frances was a welder on the Double Bottom Assembly at Kaiser Shipyard Number Four in Richmond, CA.  PS-I can not seem to leave comments on Sepia Saturday or in my own blog, it is quite frustrating, is anyone else experiencing this difficulty?

  1. "Rosie the Riveter" is a good subject for someone named Rosie.I didn't have any problem leaving a comment.

  2. No, I'm not having problems either, but I have come across several other who are having similar difficulties recently ... so you're not alone, Rosie.

Nice photo - I wonder if it was just a wartime occupation.

  3. Very appropriate Rosie! That was my first thought too when I saw Alan’s picture, Rosie the Riveter. No problems with comments but my picture wouldn’t upload and I had to switch browsers (help forum idea) which did the trick.

  4. Great picture! I presume that is not a stylish hat, but some sort of protective mask...

  5. Though not having the posting problem now, I have had it in the past. Never heard what causes it.

I've seen some fascinating local shows about the old shipyards and the women who worked in them.

  6. Great picture. I really struggled to stay on theme this week but you have followed it brilliantly.

And PS ... I'm having no issues with Blogger tgis week but had the same issues as you did a few weeks back.

  7. Perhaps Wendy the Welder would have been a better title. It certainly looks like an old welding set and Howard's 'that hat' is a welder's mask hinged to pull down over the face to protect the eyes.

Blogger has a posting problem for comments from time to time - but the silence is deafening when it comes to a explanation.

  8. It's a good thing I wasn't drinking coffee when I read Bob's comment about Wendy the Welder. It might have gone right up my nose. That is a great photo! The lady seems to have a natural grace, which makes her look just as elegant in welding gear as she might in a beautiful dress and hat.

  9. Blogger sometimes has glitches - I've noticed the comment box occasionally pops up BEHIND the blogpage you're looking at - move it to one side, and lo and behold, you can post a comment after all...

  10. Hard work for Rosie! Or Wendy. :)

I don't seem to be having a problem commenting and nobody has mentioned it on my blog. The usual advice seems to be clear cookies and history. Sometimes it works....

  11. Great entry. Rosie for sure. I saw a short production put on at our library by an actress portraying Rosie the Riveter who goes around doing those enactments. It was very good. Great photo. Blogger drives me crazy all the time. It was straighten up eventually. Hopefully.

  12. Blogger messes up from time to time and then just as mysteriously fixes itself. I think it is related to Facebook where odd things happen too. Last week I had some difficulty leaving a comment and discovered somehow Blogger had signed me out. Once I signed back in it worked. Go figure.

A great Rosie photo of times gone by.

  13. Great photo! I think your problem is an ongoing one with Blogger. I've been seeing complaints for over a month and probably longer. I've also had problems myself but touch wood, nothing lately. It mysteriously fixes itself after a couple of days.
