Memories are not always picture perfect.......

I searched my albums and came up with these pictures.

My first communion, 1957, I seem to be a little in the dark....LOl
My graduation picture, unlike the first picture, my face now seems to be in the dark....
This picture is of my son, David and my daughter, Tina.  Their grandfather, Willie carried this photo in his wallet for years.  Of course, I would like to think it was because they were his beloved grandchildren, but on the back of this picture (below picture) was our then Prime Minister, Pierre Elliot Trudeau's autograph, Willie was a staunch liberal all his life!

My aunt Bertha's wedding, (1958), here she is pictured with my Mom.  Aunt Bertha and Uncle Fred celebrated their 55th anniversary this past June, and she was able to fit in her wedding dress, amazing!  I believe I had outgrown mine in the space of 10 years or so. Looking at this picture, I notice Dad was particular about rain getting on the hydro meters on the side of the house, he made a little roof over them, LOL.

  1. You nailed it. Great photos, and my favorite, you may think is silly but, I just adore those little roof covers over the meters. Too wonderful! What a great idea.

  2. 55th anniversary! Quite the accomplishment, especially in this day and age.

  3. Fun post!! Were your skirt and dress the mandatory length?
Or did you have them shortened a bit?...
That communion outfit is endearing and funny all at once.
    The things we do sometimes...
    Funny anecdote about PET's autograph.
    Loved it!!

    1. I never thought of that, my communion dress and graduation gown are the same length, but at least my nylons aren't all bunched up as my white socks in the first communion picture, LOL

  4. They're lovely photographs despite the light and dark areas. Photography was harder before digital cameras. The old (older) cameras didn't have all the built-in meters like our modern ones do. Your mom looks beautiful in that last photograph!

  5. A lovely collection of family photographs that all have some meaning, despite not always coming out picture perfect.

  6. I was amused by Trudeaus's autograph on the back of the grandchildren's photo. I wouldn't have recognized the signature though if you hadn't mentioned it.

    1. Yes, Willie met the Prime Minister and the only thing he had to write on was the picture of his grandchildren, David and Tina, so that is how the signature happens to be on the back of their picture.

  7. You might need to attach a Sticky Note to that autograph so your descendants will know what it says! HA!

The meter roof is hilarious - that photo becomes more than just a wedding picture.

    1. Well, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, I can see myself doing something like that too....Dad, God rest his soul, was so meticulous about things, imagine, worrying that the meters might get wet.....

  8. I couldn't help but notice that the weeding needs to be done in the graduation photo............a bit like our back yard at the moment.

    1. You're so right, funny how you can notice things in a picture after giving close observation. Grass definitely could have used mowing.

  9. What a lovely series of photos!

I am still in Germany but wedding celebrations are now winding down and I was able to get on line for a little while. We will be doing some sight-seeing tomorrow and in a few days we will be on our way home.
