Peacemaker Tall Ship sails up the river
The tall ship, Peacemaker from USA docked at Station Wharf, Chatham/Miramichi last Wednesday. It is class A which is the largest class of tall ships.
Tours were being given, it was slated to leave today, but the crew has decided to stay a few more days.
This marks the 15th anniversary of Tall Ships docking here, it all started with The Bounty 15 years ago.

55th Miramichi Folksong Festival August 2012
It is that time of the year again, the 55th Miramichi Folksong Festival got underway on Sunday with an outdoor Gospel concert followed the next morning with a hearty breakfast of hash browns, scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and tea/coffee with a generous dose of downeast music!!!!
The days are filled with music at the luncheons and evenings with the concert with a full slate of performers hailing from Ireland, Scotland, Texas, Maine to name a few.
Pictures here below the billboard for the Festival is Gerry Roberts and his wife, Brenda from Ireland. Gerry is a superb guitar player and a marvelous singer.
Next, we have Ian Craig from Edinburgh, great performer!
I was fortunate enough to get my picture taken with Gerry and Brenda Roberts.
Another darling of the Festival is one of our own, Melanie Ross Breen!
I volunteer (along with countless others) every year. It is a great pleasure to volunteer for the Director of the Festival, Susan Butler, who just lately received a docturate at St. Thomas University of Fredericton to go along many more achievements including the Order of Canada and of New Brunswick, just a spirited, energetic person!!!!

Housesitting does have its advantages
This was a pretty sailboat going upriver, I took this picture from the back yard. I am really enjoying this housesitting project.
A couple of days after, this oil tanker was going upriver, it made not a sound or even a slight ripple, if I hadn't been looking out the window, I would have missed it.
One day, a limosine came and picked me up along with my colleagues for a fun day of music and shopping in some communities downriver. It was a fun day which we have once a year, last year, we took a cruise up and down the river and went to a great hotel for dessert. All compliments of Remax, the company I work for, wouldn't you like to work for Remax?? The chaffeur, who was dressed up in a tuxedo got out and opened the door for all of us, it was so much fun, we left in the morning and arrived back after supper at a wonderful restaurant! I bought a pair of red sandals with a circle for a heel, real neat. I wonder how we top that off next year!!

Not exactly sure if sailboat races are included in Olympics, but I chose this picture taken locally on the mighty Miramichi River. The river was used for logging ships, at one time I am told that "there were so many tall ships on the river that you could step from one to the other from one side of the river to the other side". Well, maybe there was a bit of "tall tales" there, but it could have been true!! The river was known for its ship building, the famous Cunard lines originated from here, and the Rankins. At one time, there was a little feud going on between these two men.......

Spring shot of the backyard
I am still house sitting at this gorgeous waterfront house. I took a winter scene of the empty barrel covered with snow, here is a spring shot.
Every weekend, when I get to stay home and not go to work, I feel like I am on a vacation. I sit on the back terrace in the morning at my bistro set and drink tea while the sun beams down on me. Later in the day, I move around to the back of the house in the screened in veranda.
I think when I retire, I may do some more of this house sitting, I will get to stay in such interesting places!! Hope everyone is having a grand summer or winter depending where you are situated.

What a difference one day makes
It all started around supper time on Monday evening, big dark and angry clouds drifted ever so slowly over the house and over the river. I thought there for awhile, we were going to get a tornado. To say the least I was scared, but luckily, the thunder wasn't all that bad and it didn't for long.
The following evening, Tuesday, (last night), the sky gave me such a beautiful and serene sunset, I like the beams from the sun peeking out just behind the clouds.
The yellow clouds here looked like a big light bulb, what a sight!!
If you look closely enough, you can see a bird in flight in the middle of the picture. The formation only lasted a minute or two, glad I was able to capture it with my camera.
