In Keeping with the wedding/love theme this week for Sepia Saturday

This is a photo of my parents, Edmond and Jeanne taken on their wedding day in 1946.  It is tattered and torn, had to retouch the creases out of it.  I was born in 1950, I can still remember Mom sitting at the Vanity table combing her long curly hair when I was around five and thinking I had the most beautiful Mom ever!  She is still a good looking 81 year old.

  1. Lovely photograph - there is a uninhibited happiness in their smiles that could never be faked.

  2. Great wedding photo. From the information you have given us your Mom must have been 16 at the time. You father looks older to me. A happy pair.

  4. You are right Bob, she was only sweet sixteen, Dad was 22, so very young in today's standards...

  5. Kristin, by the time I was 5 years old, her hair was a lot longer and dark, I don't know if this was the fashion everywhere in mid fifties, but she used to twirl a bit of hair around her finger and pin it with a clip, they called them "pin curls". When she brushed her hair after a while, it was very curly!!!

  7. Yes, they both look so happy. What a lovely memory of her you have - brushing her hair and you thinking her the most beautiful mother.

  10. I never thought about it before, but I don't know if my parents had a wedding photo. If they did, I never saw it.

  12. Lovely picture Rose. I imagine it is one of your most treasured possessions. How many of today's generation will lose their record of precious moments in years to come because all of their photos are digital?

  13. So true, nowadays if I want to show Mom a picture I took with my digital, I have to get it printed out as she has no computer. A lot of my photos do not get shown unless people sit at my computer............

  14. Who do you favor, looks-wise? Are you more like one than the other in personality? Those kinds of traits are always interesting to me.

  15. Well, I am told often I look like my mother, however, I had my father's hair color (before I turned salt and pepper, that is). My body shape is strictly after my father's people.
