Men's Suits from 1939
This was the closest I could come to men's suits that show up in AB's post. It is from an old catalogue from Simpsons for Fall 1938 to Winter 1939.

I was only 2 years old in 1939 and didn't have a suit until I got married. However I did have a belted raincoat in the 1950s. Now no raincoat and still only one suit that just about fits!
ReplyDeleteAnd most of them are wearing hats. Given the choice, it would be the hats I would be sending off for. A great link Rosie.
ReplyDeleteVery cool - just like Grandpa wore :-) Probably not far off coming back around in fashion again!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how little changes in men's fashions. Those suits look pretty up to date. But the raincoat - that's a different story. Looks more like a bathrobe.

Yeah, the bathrobe, I mean raincoat, could use a little more styling. I love the hats.
ReplyDeleteWhat great suits they wore back then!
ReplyDeleteLooks like my mom's brother. They were all good looking and wore the best clothes. Great post. I love these old things that bring back good memories.

Great catalog page and great prices.
ReplyDeleteVery dapper. Can't believe those prices!
ReplyDeletePeople used to be so much better dressed than they are now. Lovely old advert Rosie.
ReplyDeleteLove the sunbeams over the shoulder of the fellow in the coat, the rain over the same fellow in a different coat. Prices are amazing.
ReplyDeleteThese are some great tips. For those who could use some more specific advice, tips and information about great article thanks for posting.
