R.I.P Jack Layton

Today, Canada lost a most loved and respected leader, Jack Layton.  He lost his battle with cancer today, I am saddened just as much as if I had known the man personally.  He lead his NDP party to the level of National Party of Opposition, I am glad he lived long enough to do that.  In a letter he wrote a few days ago, he tells people not to give up hope in their fight with cancer, to  have hope and said love was better than hate, optimism better than despair.              What courage, what acceptance............

  1. a huge disappointment for me is to not have seen him sit as official opposition leader at the house of commons. that would have been a personal achievement as well as one for his party.

he held such promises. let's hope his party will be able to maintain such goals, and that people will still believe...

  2. @Ticklebear--I believe his party will, people will have a different cause now, (to carry on his legacy).

  3. I have heard so many good things said about him by people whose judgments I admire over in this country. It is the true test of a great politician to transcend countries and beliefs.

  4. Yes I had heard about Mr. Layton's passing, so sad. I read the letter you mentioned on another blog and I was totally impressed with what he had to say, knowing that this would probably be his last public letter. What an amazing person, rest in peace Mr. Layton.
